Job Title: Food Manufacturing Sanitation Supervisor
Location: Chelsea, MA
Job Type: Full Time
Shift: Mon-Fri 9PM-5AM
Starting pay: $28/hr
Job Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on Food Manufacturing Sanitation Supervisor to lead sanitation efforts in our client’s food production facility. This role requires an active presence on the production floor, ensuring sanitation procedures are executed effectively and in compliance with food safety regulations. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with deep knowledge of sanitation processes in food manufacturing and a proactive approach to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work directly with sanitation personnel on the production floor, ensuring hands-on oversight of sanitation processes.
- Lead and supervise sanitation teams to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, GMPs, HACCP, cGMPs, and SQF standards.
- Implement and enforce sanitation procedures tailored to a food manufacturing environment to maintain cleanliness and product safety.
- Conduct routine sanitation inspections and audits to verify proper cleaning techniques and chemical application.
- Train employees on sanitation best practices, safety procedures, and proper handling of industrial cleaning chemicals.
- Collaborate across departments, including production and quality assurance, to resolve sanitation-related concerns.
- Oversee sanitation equipment and cleaning supplies, ensuring proper usage and inventory control.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including FDA, USDA, and OSHA standards.
- Maintain detailed sanitation records and documentation for inspections and audits.
- Adjust sanitation schedules to accommodate production demands while upholding strict cleanliness standards.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Industry Compliance, or related field preferred plus 1+ year of hands-on experience in food manufacturing/processing preferred, OR 3+ years of sanitation, quality, or production leadership experience in food manufacturing required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Recent experience with industrial food manufacturing, cleaning chemicals, and ability to interpret Safety Data Sheets.
- OSHA 10- or 30-hour training preferred; some exposure to OSHA/Safety training required
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret safety documents, chemical labels, and Safety Data Sheets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent planning, time management, and organizational capabilities.
- Ability to solve problems effectively and drive sanitation improvements.
- Strong leadership skills with hands-on experience managing sanitation operations in a food manufacturing facility.
- Knowledge of human and food safety, HACCP, cGMPs, and SQF (preferred).
- Bilingual language skills highly preferred (Spanish, French Creole).
- Must be able to work scheduled hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Flexibility to adjust hours as needed to support audits and sanitation operations.
- Ability to collaborate across departments to ensure food safety and operational efficiency.
